Steps
Aging the Paper
- Soak in tea: Brew a cup of black tea or instant coffee, let it cool, and sponge or soak the paper until it looks stained and old.
- Dry completely: Let the paper dry flat or hang it up.
- Crumple and tear: Crunch the dry paper into a ball, open it up, and gently rip the outer edges to create a worn, antique look.
Drawing the Map
- Pick a location: Draw a fantasy island, or map out your actual house and backyard.
- Add fun landmarks: Draw mountains, trees, a skull rock, or a pond, and give them silly names like "Hot Lava River" and decorate.
- Mark the spot: Draw a large red "X" where the hidden treasure is kept.
- Draw the path: Use a black or red marker to draw a dotted or dashed line from the starting point to the treasure.
- Add a compass: Draw a simple compass rose in the corner showing North, South, East, and West

You'll need
• A box • Paint
• Glue • Foil or coloured tape

Steps
Prep the base: Paint the outside of the box with brown paint to look like old wood. Let it dry completely.
Add metal straps: Place strips of gold tape or foil along the edges, corners, and lid of the box to look like iron bands.
Make a lock: Cut a simple lock shape or keyhole out of black or gold paper and glue it to the front middle of the chest.
Bling it out: Let kids press sparkly gems, jewels, and shiny stickers all over the lid and sides.
Fill with loot: Add chocolate gold coins, colorful glass beads, or crumpled tissue paper inside
Make an Ocean Discovery Bottle

You'll need
• A clear bottle • Water & vegetable oil
• Blue food colouring
• Small plastic sea animals, beads, or tiny shells
• Blue and silver glitter
Steps
Color the water: Fill your bottle halfway with water. Add one drop of blue food coloring and swirl to mix.
Add sea treasures: Drop in your small plastic sea creatures, shells, and glitter through the opening.
Pour the oil: Use a funnel to fill the rest of the bottle with baby oil or vegetable oil, leaving a small air gap at the top. The oil floats and creates a moving wave effect because it does not mix with water.
Seal the bottle: Put super glue around the inside of the cap and screw it on tightly. Add tape around the outside for extra safety.
Play and explore: Tilt the bottle side to side to watch the waves roll and the sea creatures swim.
